The Porsche 964 Carrera RS was launched in 1992 the car was only available in Europe and launch and a total of three different models were launched over its lifespan which also included the 964 Carrera RS America and the 964 Carrera RS 3.8.
The first Porsche 964 Carrera RS was introduced in 1992 in Europe and it came with a modified version of the Porsche 964 engine, it was also considerably lighter than the standard Porsche 964 and was stripped of many parts like electric windows and air con, Porsche also used a range of magnesium and aluminum parts for further weight reductions.
The 964 Carrera RS had a modified version of the standard 964 engine and the car came with 260 horsepower and features Porsche’s G50 transmission, lower suspension and improved handling over the standard production 964.
In 1993 the 964 Carrera RS America which was designed for the American market was launched, this car was actually based on the 964 Carrera 2 and it came with the large whale tail rear spoiler from the Porsche 964 Turbo.
The final version of the 964 RS was launched as the 964 Carrera RS 3.8 which featured a 3.8 litre engine and the body from the 964 Turbo, this model came with 300 horsepower and had a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 271 km/h, Porsche made just 90 units of the RS 3.8.
